Mind Over Mattress

The proverbial “battle of the bed”- you know, the alarm goes off and the inner discussion begins. Hit the snooze button or jump out and get a good start to the day!

The human mind is complicated. It is with a perpetual duality. The lazy part of us wants to lie and cuddle in the safe place called our bed, while our more productive side of us understands intellectually the value of time management and maximizing each hour. I do hope each of you resonate with the above scenario. Of course you do! We are human beings and we share a common nervous system. This behavior is part of our DNA that what makes our lives so similar.

Habits- “people form habits and habits form futures”. Please spend some time with this. Reaching for the snooze button is simply a habit. You can just as easily hit the off button and decide to arise at that moment. Take some time to delve deeper into the choice of “arise” or “Lie dormant “and waste some extra precious moments.

It is my belief that people who are more passionate about their day, will arise with greater ease. When there is less joy and commitment to our daily “grind” it is just easier to delay and waste time simply putting off the inevitable.

Bottom line; spend a few minutes thinking about what is behind your actions. How you greet the day, the job, and your relationships. There is a “story” behind our behaviors and finally acknowledge that our behaviors never lie!

Don't get caught up in your rituals and just accept them. Spend some time taking inventory of your habits and rituals. If we don't do our personal investigation of our rituals, our lives will be stagnant, repetitive and even mildly depressing.

Don't get “stuck in the groove” like the needle in the vinyl record. Stay aware, stay fascinated with your life and embrace these time-tested pearls of wisdom.

I want to support you in transitioning from a life of frustration to one of fascination and do it with a smile on your face.
